Kia Warranty In Plain Language
Kia warranty coverage includes several different warranty periods, conditions, exclusions and owner responsibilities.
The exact coverage that applies to your Kia can depend on model year, mileage, ownership status, vehicle use, the component involved, and the vehicle's Date of First Service.
This page explains common Kia warranty questions and includes information from Kia's 2027 Warranty and Consumer Information Manual. It does not replace the official warranty documentation applicable to your vehicle.
Coverage At A Glance
Major coverage periods listed in Kia's 2027 Warranty and Consumer Information Manual. Coverage is generally based on time or mileage, whichever occurs first, unless otherwise stated.
60,000 Miles
Applies to covered components subject to Kia's warranty terms, exclusions and conditions.
100,000 Miles
Applies to qualifying original owners and covered powertrain components.
36,000 Miles
The original-equipment 12-volt battery has separate limited warranty coverage.
36,000 Miles
Original equipment audio, entertainment and applicable navigation components have separate coverage.
36,000 Miles
Certain qualifying non-impact paint conditions have their own warranty period.
12,000 Miles
Certain minor adjustments have a shorter coverage period.
60,000 Miles
New 2027 Kia vehicles include roadside assistance subject to program terms and exclusions.
No Mileage Limit
Applies to qualifying Kia vehicles originally sold in Kansas when qualifying repairs are performed by an Authorized Kia Dealer in Kansas.
Is The 10-Year / 100,000-Mile Warranty Transferable?
The 120-month/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty described in the 2027 Kia warranty manual applies to qualifying original owners. The manual states that this original-owner powertrain coverage is not transferable to subsequent owners.
Other remaining warranty coverage may transfer differently. Ownership history and the vehicle's original in-service date can affect coverage. Contact Midwest Kia if you purchased a used Kia and want help determining what coverage may remain.
A Warranty Detail Kansas Drivers Should Know
Kia's 2027 warranty manual includes a Kansas-specific seat belt provision. Seat belts in Kia vehicles originally sold in Kansas are covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 10 years regardless of mileage when qualifying repairs are performed by an Authorized Kia Dealer in Kansas.
Because this provision is specific to Kansas, Wichita-area Kia owners should keep it in mind when a seat belt repair or concern develops.
What Can Affect Warranty Coverage?
Normal Wear & Maintenance
Normal maintenance and many wear items are treated differently from defects in materials or workmanship. Filters, wiper blades, belts, spark plugs, brake friction materials and other consumables may have limited or no coverage depending on the situation.
Accidents & Outside Damage
Damage from collisions, misuse, road hazards, hail, flooding, environmental exposure and other outside causes may fall outside Kia's New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Modifications & Alterations
Alterations, modifications, tampering, rewiring, or damage caused by improper parts or installations can affect whether a particular failure is covered.
Improper Maintenance
Failures caused by improper maintenance or use of incorrect fuel, oil, lubricants or other products may not be covered under the applicable warranty.
Does Kia Require Maintenance?
Kia's 2027 warranty manual states that owners are responsible for properly operating and maintaining their vehicle according to the Owner's Manual. Vehicles operated under severe driving conditions must follow Kia's severe-condition maintenance requirements.
Kia also instructs owners to retain maintenance records because documentation may be needed to show that required maintenance was performed. Keep receipts, repair orders, invoices and scheduled-maintenance records.

TOLL-FREE ASSISTANCE
Should you be left to wait on some remote roadway for lack of pocket change? Certainly not. Our toll-free hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is accessible from anywhere in the U.S. The number's simple enough to remember, too: 1-800-333-4Kia.
EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
A free phone call isn't of much use if it doesn't result in someone coming to your rescue, so we have set up a network of over 17,000 roadside assistance providers. They'll help you out of the usual minor mishaps - dead batteries, flats (provided you have a spare that isn't flat), running out of gas - and they'll do it at no charge.
In the event of a warrantable concern that can't be fixed on the spot, we'll see to it you're towed, at no cost, to the nearest Kia dealer or Alternate Service Location (ASL), whichever is closer. Needless to say, if you have an applicable warranty-related concern, your repairs may be covered under the Kia 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program.
If you have the misfortune of a break-down that happens after-hours, on a weekend, or on a holiday, your vehicle will be towed and stored by a Kia-approved vendor and taken to the nearest dealer or ASL on the next business morning.
TRIP INTERRUPTION POLICY
Trip interruption expense benefits are provided in the event that a warranty-related disablement occurs more than 150 miles from the customer's home and provided that the repairs require more than 24 hours to complete. Reasonable reimbursement can be provided for meals, lodging, or rental car expenses. Trip interruption coverage is limited to $100 per day subject to a three-day maximum limit per incident, and the customer is required to contact the Kia Consumer Assistance Center to explain the circumstances and request reimbursement. A representative at the Kia Consumer Assistance Center will determine whether the circumstances meet the criteria for trip interruption benefits and, if so, will advise the customer that they will be reimbursed for trip interruption expenses.
Insurance deductibles, expenses, and claims paid by the customer's insurance company or other third-party providers are not eligible for reimbursement.
The 24-hour Roadside Assistance service plan is provided by Kia Motors America, Inc. Certain restrictions apply. See Owner's Manual for complete information.
