Kia Motors America has teamed up with Academy Award winner Christopher Walken for two new advertisements featuring the 2016 Kia Optima. In both of these advertisements the brand is looking to highlight the various aspects of this vehicle that make it stand out in a crowd and provide a fun, exciting vehicle to drive. The main theme is to try and distinguish the Optima from other vehicles in the midsize sedan segment which has earned the reputation for being generic and boring.
“Our marketing efforts are built on the core principle of challenging people to discover the exciting new Kia and question everything they think they know about the brand,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA. “Kia is a recognized industry leader in styling and quality, and like the all-new Optima, these new ads stand out from the competition with the assistance of someone who knows a thing or two about being distinctive.”
The two new spots are both 30-seconds long and they are called “Cookie Cutter” and “Middle C” and they both feature voice-over narration from Christopher Walken. The advertisements were created by Kia’s advertising agency David & Goliath and you can see both of them for yourself below.

Last year proved to be quite a successful sales year for Kia Motors America (KMA). In fact, with a total of 625,818 vehicles sold the brand saw an eight percent increase over annual sales from 2014, which also makes this their best-ever annual sales. Kia also set a new sales record in December, rising up 19 percent from the previous year to reach 54,241 units sold for the month.
